The World cruise ship came to Cobh yesterday. It will be berthed in Cork Harbour for the next two days. It’s an interesting concept: the passengers own their cabins and many of them are long-term residents. It’s like a floating apartment block where the view outside the front window is constantly changing. A way of living that chases the summer around the globe, if you like.
Here are some pics from yesterday evening.
Hmmm, living on board a ship which sails around the world constantly appeals to me, but being stuck on board this kind of ship (I bet it has a casino and the kind of people who like casionos) is my idea of hell. So, I’m torn. What’s it like inside? I imagine an enormous floating mall.
It looks pretty sumptuous on board! http://www.aboardtheworld.com/life-onboard/virtual-tours/
Still though, you wouldn’t want to be claustrophobic. No trips down to the local park if you are getting tired of your neighbours during a cruise.
Like Norwichrocks, I’m torn between envy and horror. I’m also decidedly curious to know the tax status of those on board…
Great pics, Colm, and an interesting post about an interesting thing.
